Stephen Baister, in common with many insolvency lawyers, became involved in it by chance, got stuck in it, but found he liked it.
Stephen specialises in acting as a mediator in insolvency and insolvency-related cases, bringing to his practice over 40 years of insolvency experience: as a solicitor specialising in contentious insolvency, an appointment-taking insolvency practitioner (one of few solicitors to undertake this work), and as a judge, serving as a bankruptcy registrar, and latterly chief bankruptcy registrar, of the High Court, and now as a Deputy Insolvency and Companies Court Judge of the High Court. He has written for almost all the major insolvency law journals and contributed to or co-authored a number of legal texts on the subject.
